"The Hunter"

The Hunter
Halloween

Description / info:

Some hunt deer, squirrels, rabbits, quail and other types of animals far and wide. Some hunt for the sport of hunting, others for food. He never hunted anything that he didn't plan on eating. Always giving thanks for giving their life to sustain his own.

However, this time what he hunts is no animal. No beast created by the hands of God. What he hunts could only come from the deepest darkest pits of Hell and infects other poor souls with a scratch or bite if they get to live and change them into a creature of the night. The ones who are not changed are eaten and fill its belly.

Some may know it by its proper name of Lycanthrope others by the more common name of “Werewolf”. Whatever you call it, he had been tracking it for days and was getting closer by the minute. “I just hope I'm not being tracked at the same time”, he thought to himself as the rain started to fall.

A thunderstorm of epic proportion was coming which was going to make this hunt harder. Lightning flashed behind him sending a loud crackling “boom” across the night sky as he gripped his custom crossbow tighter, ready to fire in a moment's notice.

The arrows were tipped with silver with small holes drilled into the head of the arrow covered with a thin organic film that will instantly melt and disperse liquid silver, enough that it will kill a werewolf when it comes in contact with its blood.

The rain was coming down harder and the path before him was starting to fill with water washing out the paw prints of the werewolf that traveled this way before him. The last print he noticed before filling with water was showing that the Lycanthrope was starting to change back into a human.

“Looks like I'm going to have to stay the night at the local inn”, he grumbled to himself as lightning flashed across the sky yet again. “I hope they have better stew than the last inn and hopefully this time no vampires, witches or even worse, the undead”, he thought to himself.

“I don't think I could take waking up to another dawn of the dead patrolling the streets looking for a quick meal”, as he slowly but surely walked over the now muddy path that laid before him.

“The beast can't be too far ahead, it smells like wet dog”, he grumbled to himself as lightning strikes lit up the sky and thunder echoed throughout the forest...
